A deep Ordovician carbonate in the western Tarim the most important exploration target, but it is difficult to explore due to its depth and extensive fractures, cavities and caverns. In this paper, we come up with a method to more accurately model this type of reservoir. We apply a quantitative design of the acquisition geometry to obtain a higher S/N ratio and resolution using wave equation forward modeling based on the properties of the reservoir. In order to satisfy the interpretation of fracture‐cavity type reservoir, we apply a wider azimuth survey.
