However this method has the problem of generating internal multiples due to a two‐way full wave equation being used. Besides, using the regular grids to represent a complicated model will distort the velocity interfaces as the other finite difference schemes do. To overcome these problems, a new slant of wave field extrapolation is proposed by transforming the normal space into a so‐called pseudo‐space, in which an infinitely small distance interval is represented by an infinitely small traveltime interval accounting for the velocity effect. Numerical examples of common‐shot prestack migration using the new wave equation have demonstrated that the internal multiples can be suppressed quite well. The interface distortion problem may be systematically avoided due to the nature of the new wave equation that the velocity parameters may be assigned anywhere besides the grid points. In addition, an imaging condition based on the dominant amplitudes is suggested, which can significantly reduce the hard disk or memory requirement without losing accuracy of the crosscorrelation imaging.Permalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/1.2148060FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByReverse Time Migration Based on the Pseudo-Space-Domain First-Order Velocity-Stress Acoustic Wave Equation21 October 2021 | Frontiers in Earth Science, Vol. 9 SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2005ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2005 Pages: 2668 publication data© 2005 Copyright © 2005 Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished: 07 Dec 2005 CITATION INFORMATION Xiutian Wang, Dongming Xia, Jinshan Li, Qingbing Tang, and Xiuping Jiang, (2005), "Model based processing (III): pseudo‐space reverse time migration," SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 1838-1841. https://doi.org/10.1190/1.2148060 Plain-Language Summary PDF DownloadLoading ...
