It can be used to identify reservoirs and, in favorable conditions, can help in the detection of hydrocarbons. Many techniques derived from spectral decomposition have been developed in recent years. In this paper, we examine four representative techniques and discuss the advantages and shortcomings of each. The mono‐frequency analysis method is found to be the simplest but does not use full‐spectrum information; the multi‐frequency analysis and spectrum characteristic analysis methods are intelligent and complex in some sort. Compared with other methods, the strata absorption coefficient analysis method is complex but more robust, practical and effective; Its application to the TM3D survey provides an example of its success.Permalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/1.3513140FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited BySpectral decomposition aids AVO analysis in reservoir characterization: A case study of Blackfoot field, Alberta, CanadaComputers & Geosciences, Vol. 46 SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2010ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2010 Pages: 4453 publication data© 2010 Copyright © 2010 Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished: 21 Oct 2010 CITATION INFORMATION Chen Maoshan, Wan Zhonghong, Zhang Hongying, and Zhao Haizhen, (2010), "Spectral decomposition and derived techniques for clastic reservoir identification and its application," SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 1571-1575. https://doi.org/10.1190/1.3513140 Plain-Language Summary PDF DownloadLoading ...
