Band-shape analysis of an infrared double transition in CO2 + N2 gas mixtures

Band shapes of the double vibrational transition in the infrared absorption spectrum of N2 (fundamental) + CO2 (ν3) are presented for a series of total pressures of the gas mixtures. Normalized profiles calculated from the convolution product of the infrared ν3, band of CO2 perturbed by N2, the isotropic and anisotropic Raman bands of N2 in a mixture with CO2, and a translational broadening function are in satisfactory agreement with the experimental profiles.
