Purification of organic acids by chromatography: Adsorption isotherms and impact of elution flow rate

•Adsorption isotherms of organic acids are studied for cationic and anionic resins.•Langmuir isotherm fits with experimental data for both resins.•Isotherms on the cationic resin are linear for all acids in a first approximation.•Elution velocity has a strong influence on glucose and lactic acid peak shape.•The linear part of the Van Deemter equation is observed from 0.4 and 4m/h.
