Life-sustaining treatment orders, location of death and co-morbid conditions in decedents with Parkinson's disease

•Physician Orders for Life Saving Treatment (POLST) preferences were not significantly different between those with or without PD.•Decedents with PD die less frequently at home than the general population.•POLST use improves frequency of in-home death.•There was no significant difference in age at death between those with and without PD.•PD and its complications are common causes of death listed on death certificates.
