Abstract
The genus Carex belongs to the family Cyperaceae and consists of approximately 1500 species distributed throughout the world. Few stilbene oligomers have been reported from this family. These oligomers are of interest due to the inconsistent isomers that result from the resveratrol framework. Herein, we explored chemical constituents within plants in the genus Carex, and report the isolation and the structural elucidation of compounds that have previously not been reported from C. otaruensis and C. lanceolata. We report the isolation of a new tetrameric stilbene (1) along with 11 known compounds. Their structures were elucidated through spectroscopic methods, including NMR experiments and MS spectra analyses.
