Abstract
ABSTRACT 2-Furancarbinol 1 reacts with chlorotriethoxysilane 2, chloropropyltriethoxysilane 3, silicon tetrachloride 4 and phenyltrichlorosilane 5 to give ((furan-2-yl)methoxy)triethoxysilane 6, (3-((furan-2-yl)methoxy)propyl)triethoxysilane 7, ((furan-2-yl)methoxy)trichlorosilane 8 and ((furan-2-yl)methoxy)dichloro(phenyl)silane 9 respectively. By subjecting silane 6 to reaction with tripodal ligands 2, 2,′2″ -nitrilotriethanol 10, tris(2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)iminoethyl)amine 11 and tris(2-hydroxy-3,5-dimethylbenzyl)amine 12, novel silatranes 13–15 were obtained. Similarly, reaction of silane 7 with tris((2-hydroxymethylbenzylidene)aminoethyl)amine 16 and tris(2-aminoethyl)amine 17 yielded novel silatranes 18 and 19 respectively. The structures of all the compounds were established by spectroscopic (IR, 1H, 13C and 29Si NMR) techniques and the purity of the compounds was confirmed by elemental analyses and mass spectrometry.
