Large-Scale Imaging on the Australian Synchrotron Imaging and Medical Beamline (IMBL)

If you ask the general public what they understand to be an “X-ray,” it is likely that most will think of X-ray images, usually taken in hospitals of broken bones. After the discovery of X-radiation in the last years of the nineteenth century, the use of X-rays for imaging (radiography) has made an impact on many aspects of life and industry. The term “radiography” is used loosely here since, strictly speaking, it applies to imaging with anything other than optical light. For the purpose of this article, assume that it means X-ray imaging.
