Attenuation of BPA degradation by SO4− in a system of peroxymonosulfate coupled with Mn/Fe MOF-templated catalysts and its synergism with Cl− and bicarbonate

•Porous Mn0.8Fe2.2O4 MNCs was successfully developed through Mn/Fe bi-MOFs template.•MNCs exhibited desirable adsorption capacity, rendering better degradation performance.•HOwas the dominant radical for BPA degradation in MNCs/PMS system.•Surface-bound radicals might play a crucial role in MNCs/PMS system.
