•A CFD-PBM coupled model was used to monitor the flow behavior in industrial FBR.•In the grid analysis, bed height profile is more sensitive than pressure drop.•Larger particle size and time step (30 dp and 0.01s) can be used in large FBRs.•In the polymerization reaction, the bigger particles have higher particle growth rate.
