Abstract
•LaB6@SiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by a simple Stöber sol–gel process, and applied to PVB-based nanocomposite films.•Thermal stability and transmittance in visible region of the film were enhanced after a silica coating is applied.•This film is promising for potential industrialization of transparent insulation materials.
