Correlation of serum and dried blood spot results for quantitation of Schistosoma circulating anodic antigen: A proof of principle
Acta Tropica(2015)
Abstract
•Dried blood spots (DBS) are increasingly used for research and care in resource-poor settings.•We optimized and evaluated a protocol to detect schistosome circulating anodic antigen (CAA) in DBS.•We were able to detect CAA in DBS up to 8 years old with good correlation to serum.•This technique provides new avenues to diagnose and study schistosome infection.
