Prediction of new compounds in the AHal-BHal 3 systems

Yet-nonsynthesized compounds of the compositions A 2 BHal 5 , A 3 BHal 6 , and ABHal 4 in systems of mono- and trivalent metal halides were predicted, and so was the type of their crystal structure under normal conditions. The calculations were performed by precedent-based pattern recognition methods using a special system for computer design of inorganic compounds. The new compounds were predicted using only the data on the properties of constituent elements and simple halides.
