•A. manihot is an annual herbal plant of folk medicine and widely distributes in many countries.•This method could be utilised for the quality control of the A. manihot and other herbal medicines.•The distribution and contents of 12 analytes in four parts were arranged as leaf>flower>stem>root.•The leaves and flowers can be developed as nutraceutical and bioactive products.
