Abstract
•Membrane protein location probed by protein 13CO–membrane 2H and 31P REDOR.•13CO–2H REDOR with 100kHz π pulses is insensitive to quadrupolar anisotropy.•2H T1 relaxation times are comparable to longer REDOR dephasing times.•Dephasing builds up exponentially with dipolar coupling rate and population extent.•α helical and β sheet viral fusion peptides are deeply inserted in the membrane.
