Abstract
•Stable isotope analysis showed black scabbard fed at the highest trophic level.•Differences were observed in the fatty acid profiles of prey and predator species.•POP concentrations were highest in the longest lived species, roundnose grenadier.•Concentrations of POPs were significantly lower in the prey species.•PCB concentrations in the fish flesh were below the EC maximum food level.
