Prolonged shedding of pandemic influenza A (H1N1) 2009 virus in a pancreas-after-kidney transplant recipient.

•A case of prolonged A(H1N1)pdm09 virus shedding in a SOT recipient is reported.•Drug-resistant virus may emerge after standard antiviral therapy.•Detection of influenza viral nucleic acid should be correlated with clinical disease.•The efficacy of extended course or higher dose of oseltamivir is controversial.
