Genetic diversity of norovirus in hospitalised diarrhoeic children and asymptomatic controls in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

•We examined norovirus genetic diversity from children with (cases) and without diarrhoea (controls).•Norovirus prevalence was significantly higher in cases than in controls.•Norovirus GII.4 predominated in both cases and controls.•Norovirus infection was significantly more prevalent in children below 1year.
