LL-202, a newly synthesized flavonoid, inhibits tumor growth via inducing G(2)/M phase arrest and cell apoptosis in MCF-7 human breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.

•LL-202 inhibited the growth and proliferation of MCF-7 cells in a concentration- and time-dependent manner.•LL-202 induced apoptosis and G2/M phase arrest in MCF-7 cells.•NAC partly blocked LL-202-induced ROS levels and apoptosis.•LL-202 significantly suppressed the growth of MCF-7 breast cancer xenograft tumors with low systemic toxicity.
