•Anti-HBs antibodies were studied in HBV vaccinated adolescents.•Low rate of non-protected subjects were found as more than ten year follow-up.•Significance of <10IU/L antibodies was evaluated.•Anti-HBs antibody level >2IU/L predicts values >10IU/L after booster vaccination.•A new limit at 2IU/L is proposed.
