Abstract

•Multi-frequency axial scanning ultrasonometer acquires wave propagation profiles along the proximal tibia.•Diagnostic parameters derived from the profiles at different frequencies were compared with DXA data in postmenopausal women.•Integral linear classifier provided 87.7% sensitivity and 63.2% specificity to DXA-identified osteoporosis.
