Abstract
•Spermatogonial stem cell markers were characterized for the first time in tilapia.•Gfra1 expression was evidenced exclusively in single type Aund spermatogonia.•Nanos2 is expressed in both type Aund and Adiff spermatogonia up to 8-cell clone.•Tilapia Aund spermatogonia efficiently expanded in vitro for at least 1month.•Cultured Aund cells successfully colonize recipient testes after transplantation.
