Abstract
This literature review synthesizes studies on the transition between educational levels, both nationally and internationally, and how the articulation between Kindergarten and Basic Education contributes to ensure the successful, gradual and safe transition of children from one stage to another in their evolutionary development. First, the main contributions made to establish the difference between the concepts of transition and articulation and their importance for the development of children's learning are analyzed. We considered those publications derived from quantitative and qualitative research works that contribute to the knowledge on the subject with the purpose of establishing a basis for the understanding of this important process experienced by boys and girls during their school formation. Then, a summary of the proposals made by different authors who concluded their study with suggestions for kindergarten educators, basic teachers and/or directors in general, to facilitate the transition process and promote the articulation between levels, is presented. Finally, after reviewing the main contributions, we discuss the contribution of the articulation between the Kindergarten and Basic Education levels to the transition process between both, explaining the need to improve the processes in favor of respecting the essence of the child as a subject of rights.
