•ET-1and COX-2 was highly expressed in chondrosarcoma tissues as compared to normal cartilage.•ET-1 mediates the chondrosarcoma cell migration by up-regulation of COX-2 production.•ET-1 act through the ET receptors, MAPK to induce COX-2 activation.•AP-1 was major key transcription factors of ET-1-induced COX-2 activation.
