Abstract
Objective To analyze the etiology and treatment of the benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) patient with serum total PSA more than 60ng/ml. Methods Clinical data of 5 BPH patients with serum total PSA more than 60ng/ml was retrospectively summarized and analyzed under a review of some related literatures. Results The average level of serum PSA of all patients was obviously decreased after surgery and the average value of serum PSA was changed from 72.8ng/ml to 16.4ng/ml after 3 months. Level of serum PSA for a BPH patient with prostatitis was decreased from 103. 5ng/ml to 34.8ng/ml and serum PSA for another BPH patient with atypical hyperplasia from 84.6ng/ml to 42.6ng/ml. Average value of serum PSA was 11. 6ng/ml at 6 months after surgery. Conclution Age, prostate volume, urinary obstruction, urinary infection and prostatitis of patients were all positively correlated with high level of serum PSA except prostate cacinomar. For BPH patient with high serum PSA, early surgery was recommended in clinic.
