Rat brain-lymphocyte antigen: characterization by rabbit antisera to rat brain tubulin and S-100 protein.

Antisera to rat brain tubulin and brain S-100 protein were raised in rabbits. Anti-tubulin serum was cyctotoxic and immunofluroescence-positive to rat T lymphoctes, but not B lymphocytes. These activities were removed by absorption with homologous brain tubulin. Anti-S-100 protein serum did not exert cytotoxic effect and positive immunofluorescence on rat T and B lymphoyctes. These results indicate that brain tubulin, but not brain S-100 protein, shares some antigenic determinants with T lymphocytes.
