Metamaterial microwave transmission-line on Si-wafer utilizing a semiconductor integration technology for WPT modules

A novel composite right/left handed transmission line (CRLH TL) on Si wafer by a green semiconductor integration nanotechnology is presented, designed by calculation, and demonstrated by experiments. First, a coplanar waveguide (CPW) and interdigital capacitance implementation of a CRLH TL is described. A simple circuit is then proposed for design of a CRLH TL with an only deposited aluminum layer. Both a left handed range -8.0 dB at 12.2 GHz for telecommunication and right handed range -11.4 dB at 20.2 GHz for power transmitting are demonstrated experimentally. In addition, the method of propagation loss reduction is presented.
