Abstract
X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were used to analyze the characteristics and differences between usual aggregate and coal gangue from the west of Inner Mongolia. The FTIR analysis results show that there are little differences in samples from three areas; however there are apparent differences spectrum absorption peaks at 3697~3684 cm-1, 3624~3613 cm-1 and 711~694 cm-1 in the infrared spectra; the results of FTIR and XRD experiment indicate that Wuhai coal gangue pattern is similar to aggregate; interrelated coefficient value between general aggregate and Wuhai coal gangue is the maximum; unconfined compression strength (UCS) of Wuhai coal gangue with fly ashlime was determined, and it can meet the need of base course and sub-base highway.
