Abstract
As information technologies are developed more and more, operation skills and know-how of the operators in the steel making industries are kept in the application software. Different hardware, operating system, and unskillfulness of the engineer cause the reuse of software to be very difficult. To solve this problem, we propose the common interface method based on our own software architecture for global shared memory and database. As a result, it makes the source codes unchanged although properties of data are changed. By using a software automatic generation tool, we apply the generated application software to a continuous casting pilot plant and study the merits and the limitations.
