Proceedings of the 2014 Workshop on Mapping Personality Traits Challenge and Workshop

MAPTRAITS 2014 is the First Audio/Visual Mapping Personality Traits Challenge and Workshop. It is therefore the first of an expected series of competitions that aim at advancing the state of the art in automatic analysis of personality traits and social dimensions by providing a benchmarking protocol that enables evaluation from multiple perspectives, and encouraging the participation of diverse research groups from different disciplines, in particular the audio and video analysis communities and those in the social sciences who study personality, traits, expressive and nonverbal behaviour. We thank the participants and the authors for their contributions and the program committee for their prompt action in reviewing papers and providing feedback. Finally, we thank the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council UK (EPSRC) that partially supported the event through the MAPTRAITS Project. The Audio/Visual Mapping Personality Traits Challenge and Workshop Series aims to give researchers and practitioners a unique opportunity to share their perspectives with others interested in the various aspects of analysis/synthesis of personality traits and social dimensions. Our hope is that this first challenge and workshop created the basis for the coming series of competitions and therefore will encourage an increased number of participation in the coming years to share novel solutions that fulfill the needs of everyday applications and environments and identify new directions for future research and development.
