Abstract
This paper describes a DSP-based control system that was developed for a SMES unit of 15 kW/20 kJ. The SMES unit was built for a grid model, and a 12-pulse IGBT current source converter was used as the power interface between AC network and the energy-stored coil. Control algorithms were developed to implement the performances such as fluctuating load compensation and uninterrupted power supply (UPS). Simulations were carried out with a self-developed transient program and the results are presented
