Abstract
The jitter and the wobble of a polygon motor used in a laser printer are important factors to control the printing quality. The rotor magnet used in the polygon is magnetized with three different magnetic field profiles. For small values of jitter and wobble, the magnetic field distribution of the rotor magnet with a square-wave is very suitable for the application of a polygon motor. For an eight-pole rotor magnet with maximum magnetic field strength about 1200 G, the average jitter and wobble of the polygon motor are about 0.0149% and 13.02 arc-sec respectively
