Abstract
In this paper, we provide the comparison of a feedback compensation control and an explicit model predictive control (MPC), which are the popular control algorithms for the DC-DC converter in industry. We develop a small-signal equivalent circuit model for forward DC-DC converters, with the model a feedback compensation controller is designed. Then based on a discrete-time hybrid model we propose an explicit MPC, which enables the large number of optimization effort to be completed off-line. The control law is stored and implemented in a lookup table. Simulation results demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of the two control algorithms.
