Study on an improved magnetron cavity for vapor-cell rubidium frequency standards

An improved magnetron cavity applied in vapor-cell rubidium frequency standards is presented. The cavity is newly developed accommodating a glass cell with an increased diameter of 25mm. Numerical simulation indicates that the proposed magnetron cavity operates in the TE011 mode and has a high Q-factor. The results show a bigger resonant signal occurring in the improved magnetron cavity, and thus the traditional vapor-cell rubidium frequency standards with this magnetron cavity can achieve an excellent frequency stability of 8.8×10-13 τ-1/2 (1s ≤ τ ≤ 10000s).
