Electronic diagnostic algorithms to assist mid-level health care workers in Nepal: A mixed-method exploratory study.

•Patients prefer the use of a mobile diagnostic application by to traditional style of clinical visit for acute care.•Health care workers will verbally accept a mobile health application, but when given a choice, will tend not to use it.•Health care workers will only use mobile health applications if they are perceived as valid, time-saving and easy to use.•Use of the decision making algorithms are seen as learning tools by health care workers.
