Determination of lidocaine hydrochloride content in Sanli cream by RP-HPLC method

Objective: To establish a RP-HPLC method for determination of lidocaine hydrochloride content in Sanli cream. Methods: The separation was performed on a Kromasil-C 18 analytical column (150 mmX4.6 mm, 5 μm) with the mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile-0.02 mol/L sodium dihydrogen phosphate-triethylamine (47 : 53 : 0.15, pH value was adjusted to 3.15 with phosphoric acid, including 0.015 mol/L sodium dodecyl sulfate). The detection wavelength was 220 nm. The flow rate was 1.0 ml/min. Results: The standard curve was linear within the range of 6.576-87.68 μg/ml for lidocaine hydrochloride (r=0.999 7, n = 3). The average recoveries of low, middle and high concentrations were (99.78±1.14)%, (98.91±1.78)%, (100.77±2.32)%, respectively. Conclusion: The method is simple and accurate with a good reproducibility, and can be used as a quality control method for Sanli cream.
