Abstract
Cardiovocal syndrome characterized by hoarseness due to a cardiovascular disorder is an uncommon condition, which is extremely rare in association with cardiovascular syphilis. A 42-year-old male patient presenting with 3-month laryngeal discomfort and hoarseness was diagnosed with syphilitic aneurysm of the aorta. An aortic replacement was successfully carried out under cardiopulmonary bypass. Microscopic examination of the surgical specimen revealed fibrosis with massive infiltration by lymphocytes and macrophages around small vessels. Cardiovocal syndrome due to cardiovascular syphilis is extremely rare. This condition usually warrants a surgical operation.
