Research on braking energy regeneration of slewing mechanism in hybrid excavator

As the study of hybrid power further developed, people start to pay attention to braking energy regeneration, which has never been made fully use for a long time. This paper studied braking energy regeneration of excavator slewing mechanism. The slewing mechanism is driven by ISG, and ultra-capacity is used as electrical power source. Referring to the model of ISG and ultra-capacity provided in the software ADVISOR, the slewing system model was built based on Matlab/Simulink, and then the process was simulated on energy regeneration. At last, this work compared energy consumption and SOC of the ultra-capacity between the two slewing systems with and without braking energy regeneration. The simulation result shows that braking energy regenerating system can drastically decrease the energy consumption.
