Numerical simulation of granular flow behaviors in liquid-solid circulating fluidized bed

Flow behaviors of liquid and solids phases in a circulating fluidized bed was simulated by means of Euler-Euler two-fluid model combined with the kinetic theory of granular flow, by introducing the mean free path to consider the liquid film effect on the collision of particles. Simulated particles concentration distribution showed a high particle concentration near the wall and low in the center. The time-averaged particle velocity showed that the near wall particle velocity was negative, indicating that the backmixing phenomenon existed near the wall. The results showed that the liquid film on the surface of particles reduced the granular temperature and granular pressure. The model considered the liquid film effect was in agreement with experimental data.
