Abstract
The draining space of shallow aquifers in the North China Plain resulted from long-term and over-extraction groundwater are favourable locations to regulate groundwater storage and increase groundwater recharge amount to river channels. Conclusions according to the hydrogeology information and formula were as follows: the major river systems in North China Plain, such as the Yongding River, Daqing River, Ziya River, Zhangweinan Canal and other rivers had a great artificial storage potential; the leakage rate of dry river was significantly greater than the river has water at the same groundwater buried depth; the leakage rate of dry river is greater when the groundwater buried depth increasing; the area of regulation storage zones is 4703.13 km2 and the regulation capacity could be 66.28×108 m3 in the exposed sandy bed zone and shallow buried zone of major river systems in the piedmont; taking avoiding negative effects of ecological environment on land as the principle, and setting 4 m as the upper constraint depth, calculation results were as follows: the storage capacity which could be utilized of major river channels was 42.59×108 m3 in large alluvial-pluvial fans, the adjustable amount was 22.83×108 m3/a, with 14.82×108 m3/a groundwater recharge increased.
