Paper cut-out generation system using recognized decorative patterns

Paper cut-out is a traditional Chinese folk art. In this work, we present an algorithm for extracting decorative patterns of paper cut-out images and then use it to construct a computer system for paper cut-out generation. Unlike previous systems, decorative patterns used in the proposed system are recognized from digital images. Paper cut-out is finally generated by assembling those extracted decorative patterns. As algorithm designs for specific decorative patterns aren't needed, paper cut-out generation of the proposed system is easier than that of previous systems. Experiments are conducted to validate performances of the proposed algorithm and system.
