Distributed resource management for cognitive radio mesh networks

In this paper, we investigate the problem of resource management in cognitive radio mesh networks for delay-sensitive applications with the objective of minimizing the end-to-end packet delay. Based on the SINR-based interference model, we propose a distributed resource management algorithm that allows network nodes to exchange local information with neighbors, and find their own feasible actions including the relay node and the transmission frequency channel, and then autonomously select the optimal one with minimal expect delay to destination. The algorithm is shown through numerical simulations to outperform other solutions leading to a lower end-to-end packet delay and packet loss rate. © 2011 Binary Information Press December, 2011.
