摘要
This paper deals with chip breaking behavior of aluminum alloy in high speed machining. Firstly, cutting experiments were performed at ten different cutting speeds by polycrystalline diamond tools. The results showed that by increasing cutting speeds, chip breaking scope(the number of chip breaking points) decreases, the critical feed rate increases and the critical depth of cut changes around the value of the corner radius in high machining. Secondly, based on the analysis of the experimental datum, the relationship between the cutting speed and the critical feed rate and the relationship between the cutting speed and the chip breaking scope were analyzed by the method of regression analysis. Lastly, according to chip breaking principle, the mathematic models of the critical feed rate and the critical depth of cut were built. The study above lays a theory and basis for future investigation of the mechanism of chip breaking in high speed machining.
