Launching strength calculation and analysis on the armor-piercing projectile with composite sabots

This paper takes the large caliber armor-piercing projectile with carbon fibcr/cpoxy resin composite sabots as its research object. With the aid of FEM software Abaqus, the FEM model of the armor-piercing projectile with carbon fiber/cpoxy resin composite sabots was built and the numerical simulation on launching strength of the armor-piercing projectile was finished. Then, research and analysis with experiments is processed in this paper. The problems of launching strength and the failure reasons on composite sabots were obtained. The results obtained provide some reference for projects design.
