Abstract
In order to improve the designing efficiency and validity of simulation results of HVDC system and to meet the simulation requirements of modeling real complex HVDC system, and to further remedy defects that modular packages used in PSCAD/EMTDC decrease software flexibility, we mainly adopted ATP/EMTP simulator to model CIGRE HVDC Benchmark system and provided a detailed description of the HVDC system and its controller. Moreover, the system performances of steady-state and transient-state were analyzed, and the CIGRE HVDC standard model was compared with PSCAD/EMTDC. The simulation results prove that modeling method is correct and feasible, and selecting proper simulation step not only improves the performances of system but also shortens execution time.
