Abstract
A two-dimensional rare earth metal-organic polymer {[Pr-2(csph)(2)(H2O)(4)center dot 6H(2)O}(n) (1) with 3-carboxylate-4-sulfonato-phenolate (csph) ligands was obtained by hydrothermal synthesis and characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy, and also by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is orthorhombic, space group Pbcn with a = 15.9113(6), b = 9.3563(4), c = 16.0497(6) angstrom, Z = 4, and V = 2240.46(16) angstrom(3). The praseodymium atom is coordinated to eight oxygen atoms from the csph(3-) ligands and two water molecules to form a distorted dodecahedron. The csph(3-) ligands involved in forming a two-dimensional framework are all multiply bridging via the sulfonate (mu(2), eta(2)) and the carboxylate groups (mu(3), eta(2):eta(1)). The thermal stability of complex I was studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and the photoluminescence properties of complex 1 were also investigated.
