Study of strengthening the reduction-separation process of ilmenite concentrates

In this experiment, an ilmenite concentrate was supplied by Titanium Industry Co. of Pan gang Co. LTD. With the purpose of strengthening the reduction process of ilmenite concentrate, we have researched the reduction mechanism of ilmenite, law impact of pre-oxidation and additives over the reduction process. The result showed that pre-oxidation accelerates the reduction of iron oxides in ilmenite concentrates and improves the metallization of ilmenite concentrate pellet. Some additives can enhance the reduction. Metallization of pellet was 91.48%, of which additive was 4%, the reduction temperature was 1100 degrees C, the reduction time was 3h. The separation experiment of the reduction product also had been carried out. The test results showed that the grade of rich titanium product was 74.33% TiO(2), the recovery of TiO(2) was 91%, the grade of magnetic impurity was 7.12%, under the conditions of 4% additives, reducting above 3.5h from 1100 to 1500 degrees C, the grain size in raw material was 97.0%-0.074mm, and the magnetic intensity was 1.5 x 10(5)A/m.
