Noise reduction capacity of Fe-Cr-Mo alloy

Based in background of engineering application, how noise generated under free vibration and forced vibration with a Fe-Cr-Mo alloy component was studied compared with a 18-8 stainless steel component. The results showed that comparing with the 18-8 stainless steel component, the Fe-Cr-Mo alloy revealed lower noise response and higher damping performance. The effects of exciting force value on the peak of noise response and sound attenuation property of the two components were also studied. The results indicated that with increase in exciting force, the peak noise of both components correspondingly increased, but the peak noise of the Fe-Cr-Mo alloy was significantly lower than that of the 18-8 stainless steel component. The results also indicated that the Fe-Cr-Mo alloy component as a noise enclosure reduced the noise more than the 18-8 stainless steel one did.
