Composition and structure of acrylonitrile based casein fibers

Researchers at China have successfully tested novel synthetic acrylonitrile based casein fibers that are also called as milk protein fibers with respect to their composition and structures. The luster, handle, and stiffness of the fiber are influenced by the existence of vertical trench and pockmarks, which help to the moisture sorption and diffusivity characteristics of milk protein fiber. The cross section of the milk protein fiber is round and there are many irregular vertical trenches and pockmarks in its surface and that of poly acrylonitrile (PAN) is like bean. The results of infra red spectra reveal that the protein milk fiber is made up of AN and casein. The X-ray diffraction pattern of the fiber also reveals both crystalline and amorphous regions in the structure of aggregating state of the milk protein fiber.
